2003 silverado wont turn over

Here's the situation--
-I started the truck at 4;30 am and the low fuel light came on.
-I went back in the house and came back out twenty minutes later and the truck was not running.
-I figured that it had ran out of gas, so I poured in six gallons.
-I got in the truck, turned the key to start and nothing. You could here a little click coming from the engine compartment, but that was it. I had the battery tested and it's good. All lights, radio, electric seats, etc. work just fine. I don't think that it's the fuel pump because it isn't even turning over.

Is there a fuse or something that may have blown. Has anyone else evr had this problem.
Note; The lights go out and the instrument panel goes out when I turn the key forward, just like normal.
If anyone can help, It would be much appreciated.

A friend of mine with an old ford Taurus had the same thing happen. Turned out that there was a switch or lever in the trunk that had to be reset before it could be cranked. Never did really find out what it was though, and never heard of it in a silverado. Good luck.

If this helps - I was having a similar issue with my truck.

Turned out to be a bad battery cable connection at the battery. Cleaned all the corrosion off and all is good.

on the ignition wire near starter check for a fuse link. they can burn out and give you that same problem. one step at a time.

I took the truck to the dealership. They found a bad fuse, and when they replaced it, it kept blowing when they would turn the ignition. Next, they found the wire that was shorting out, and fixed that. The mech. tried to start the car, but it would not "get gas". They tested the fuel pressure and discovered the fuel pump module was bad. They replaced that, and I was back on the road. $890----ouch!

Just another typical issue with these trucks. Junk.

I would never let any car or truck run low on gas, the pump is located in the gas, this serves to keep the pump cool, the more you let the gas run low or empty the less life you get from any fuel pump, do to not cooling properly.
