Tire speed rating

I want to know if the speed rating means you can't go over the certain speed because the tire will burst. Or will it just get hard to steer?

Speed rating is just that
Its the maximum speed (heat) that tire had been tested and known to work too.
Running faster then a tire is rated is risky because yes they can burst or a lot of bad things. Like bubble.
Remember the faster you go the hotter your tires are going to get.

the one thing i don't under stand is why are Z rated tires for 149 and OVER? how much over? w and y are rated higher but not over.
