02 Grand Prix hood latch and wipers

Hey guys. Got a freind (yeah a girl! haha) that has 2 problems, its cold out and i haven't gotten to take a look at it. Wondering if anyone knows the answers right away so i don't have to freeze!

Its and 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Ok hood latch:
The hood popped, now it won't close completely. It only latches, but its always "popped." Know what i mean? The lever is very loose and i can't see anything happen on the latch when somone pulls the lever, so im wondering if the cable snapped.....

Second. Her wipers are messed up. When the wipers are turned off they slide up and do rest in the vertical position... WTF?!?!? So needless to say she is driving (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43680#) around with her wipers up all the time... lol But they do work properly.

OK 2 things have the hood open and have someone pull on the lever and look at the release cable if it moves it`s fine if not it`s broke, if it moves try and spray some break away on the hood mechanism because the cable may be sticking at the end. 2nd the wipers have a mechanism in them that turns certian ways you have to take off the wiper armsthen the guard right under the windshield to get into it look inside there should be kinda like an odd shaped circle try and mess around with that if you cant get it to set right you have to visit a pontiac dealer and mabey get a diagram on how to set that thing right if not broken.
