528i clicking noise

I have a '99 528i which has a clicking noise coming from the dash in cold weather. The noise occurs when the car comes in contact with uneven road surfaces. Once the car warms up the noise disappears. The noise sounds like it's coming from the instrument cluster. Has anyone experienced a similar noise and if so how was the annoyance corrected?

Try operating the steering wheel adjustment locking lever. Possibly adjust the position of the steering wheel slightly.
Worth a try, costs nothing.
