I have 2 Kenwood kfc-w300s subs :banghead: that are going to be powered (eventually!) by a JBL monoblock amp. Both subs are boxed onto my (wood) parcel shelf with the parcel shelf being the top of the box. i have made a box to fit the subs in however im a bit confused about sub boxes and the recommended size/dimensions. the box ive made is smaller than a standard sub box that can be bought but big enough to house the subs. Is it absolutely essential the subs are boxed to the recommend dimensions? or doesn't the size matter? (ive seen hundreds of subs crammed into small fiberglass installs! :screwy: )

Quick replys will be appreciated - thanks in advance

building a box that is too small or too large will rob the ability of the housed drivers to perform at its peak ability. It's true that many installs such as stealth installs and flashy glass installs are sometimes out of spec for a specific driver's asking amount of breathing room, but its a compromise of show vs. performance.

If you want to build a box yourself, correctly, find out the dimensions perfect for your driver by looking at the kenwood manual or going on their website. If you still can't find it, try mailing them. When you get the specs, build your box out of atleast 3/4" MDF.

good luck
