Automotive paint over model primer?

Anyone had good results? Thinking of spraying automotive pearl mica over Gunze primer, don't want any shocks!
Should I go for a layer of plastic auto primer first?

I've used auto lacquers over Tamiya primer - no problems... :)

Gunze primer (Mr. Surfacer?) was probably made for their lacquer paints, so it should be fine under an automotive lacquer. Unless your primer was made for acrylics (I doubt it though).

I've shot auto lacquer over Gunze 500 and 1000 after sanding the primers smooth.

I've also shot over Tamiya's primer with the same lacquers without problems, but I'd spray lightly over both types. I started to switch over to model primers because the grains are finer and don't hide as much detail.
Why are you considering Model primers? I thought you liked automotive finishing products Mr. Guiddy.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot.

I am using model primer for the same reason as you, shows more detail. Especially on the bike where bolts and panel lines are shallow.
