so i have a 96 626 and am very sketchy about believing garages after my p.o.s contour (which apparently was previously on fire b4 i got it) anyway, i know i need a new clutch, i have had the car since sept (4months) and have already put 11k on it (drive back n forth pa to va) i just got it inspected, 4 new tires, allignment ect. my brother said i dont need a tune up- n not to waste the $ but im not so sure. i can hardly get up a hill, and also on the hwy it doesnt accel very well at all. and it shakes. shakes at low and high speeds. told the slow was the clutch and high was the tires- moving away and have a 300 mile trip- dont know what to do. i see that mazdas are awful for auto tranny but the manual is supposed to be good. would it be sluggish at high speeds? put in fuel injector and gettin tires re-balanced in a few days. could it just be spark plugs?? wires?? or is it just the clutch? thanks

Don't know if you already fixed this or not...
Did your car have the shakes before you put on the new tires and had it aligned? It could be any of those things you mentioned. How long since it had a tune-up? They're not that expensive if you or someone else can do the work...Wouldn't hurt to replace plugs/wires/dist. cap/fuel filter/air filter if you haven't already...
Also, if you're getting the tires rebalanced ask them about the shakes. They might be able to check the driveshaft/u-joints for wear or play... like you said it could be a lot of things.
Good luck!
