Gallardo: Painting smoke sections

Hi guys,

I am building my Gallardo right now. I need to paint some pieces using #95 paint, which is smoke color. I assume that X19 is a good match for this? Should I airbrush those pieces from the inside, like if I apply clear red or clear orange, or do I need to paint both side of the pieces?

Is it me, or on all the pictures I look, those pieces were more closer to semi-gloss black than smoke?

There is no big mistake on the model right now, if it continues like this, I will post it in the gallery :-)

Thanks!

Show what parts you are to paint smoke.

don't have the kit but from the instructiond, they look like they're the mesh parts on the real car.
In that case, i would say, paint the smoke on the surface with the detail on it; the idea being that it gathers in the mold lines and replicate the mesh detail.
If you can though, you really should replace these parts with real mesh....

Hi will check if I have some Tamiya mesh somewhere. Guess I can do this, except for the taillight section.

tail-light?
the slightly trickier bit would be the lower mesh for the exhaust ends.
what you need here is a little ring, photo etch or plastic to tidy up and frame the hole.

also, using metal mesh would be more accurate than the stuff you get in tamiya kits (if that is what you are talking about).
not entirely sure what brand and hole type would be the closest match though.

yeah sorry, I tought it was a kind of hole for a backup light, but it's a hole for the exhaust ends.

I have lots of metal mesh, in 5 different sizes, maybe I will be able to find a good match. I guess I must paint them in black?

Thanks for your help.
