Depends on the year. I had a 1990 Eclipse GSX that had a recall on the transfer case. That was the most serious one.

Oh, and the cam belt. Change it every 60,000 miles or else risk total annilition of the engine. Yeah, there are a few cars like this out there. And the people that own them don't usually know about it. Its a shame.

Well my story is that I bought a 1998 eclipse GS last year, it is an automatic, I have done so many things to it, tinted the windows, got the altezza's put my own custom twist on them, neons, system, short ram AEM intake, HKS exhaust, everything but the turbo and body kits, and that is not far off my mind. My biggest concern is that after visiting the dealership (faulty spark plugs) and at that time I was leaking transmission fluid but it was black so I thought it was oil and the dealership told me that I would have to change the fluid as often as I cnaged the oil. Now I am leaking Oil this is ridiculous and I was just wondering if these cars all have their own querks or what. But basically I love my car and I am getting frustrated and if anyone can relate or knows why my car can not hold its fluid I would much appreciate the advise!

My A/T trans so far has been bullet proof. No leaks or anything like that. Cold weather seems to mess with it alittle though. Factory trans fluid should be red, if it smells burnt or looks black you need to flush it. Oil leaks are just part of having a car. Gaskets and seals where any two parts join is the weakest area, so i exspect them on any used car i buy. Every car has querks.

I was thinking of buying a gsx or gst but i heard crankwalk is a real problem. What percent of the cars actually get it. I heard turbos are also a lot more vulnerable but i dont know how true that would be. Thanks alot

they say turbos are more likely to have it because 2nd gen cars have different motors for turbo and non-turbo. its extremely unlikely that it will happen on a 420a.. as for the rest of the CW story, you don't need to ask again, there is enough written about it already.

If 2% of the 95-96s got CW, I would be very surprised.
