I Have A 96 Chevy 1500 With A 4.3 And A 4l60e Trans Does Anyone Know What The Difference Is Between The V8 Trnas And The V6 Trans. I Was Told That The V8 Trans Would Not Work With Mine,but Also Told That It Would Any Help Would Be Appreciated

Bellhousing is same for v6 as for v8. Friend of mine just swapped out 94v6 in his truck for a v85.7 --He used the same tranny--4l60e--that was already in the truck. he did swap the prom out for a 5.7 prom in the ecm.

I'm no tranny hotrod but I would guess they are the same.Try heading off to your local wrecker.They will have the books( I can't remember the name of them) to tell you if it will crossover.

thanks hard to find ones in the junkyards just for the v-6 then when you do they want an arm an a leg and they tell me just 96+97 will fit my truck

The V-8 transmission is likely to have a bit heavier clutch stack. Those were about the years when there were differences. The torque converters are likely different, but yuou should really replace the converter if replacing the trans. Factory reman converters are usually under $200, and include a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
