Civic Interior Paint Scheme

:banghead: i own a 98 civic, 4 dr, white, gray interior. ive done very little modifications, head unit, speakers, white guages, shift knob, boot, brake handle, rai. i dont have enough money to get much go out of it so for now im more interested in the looks. it has black trim pieces, door handles, mirrors, etc. which i plan to have painted white in the spring, and im also going the tint the windows. i cant stand the gray interior and would like to paint the dash, door panels, rear deck, etc black, or maybe go with a two-tone job, leaving lower pieces and vents gray. ill also tear up the gray carpet and replace it with black. what should i do about the carpet-trim on the door panels? i've read SEM color coat is the way to go-is there anything cheaper that ill get the same results? also how long will it take before it fades or cracks if ever? if anyone has done this and lived with it for a couple years let me know. also opinons on the two tone or not would be great.

you should just find interior pieces that are already black, and replace them.

yeah do what civicspoon said..youll hate that you painted your cars interior down the road.. just go to the junkyard and find any civics with a black interior, they usually dont charge much for interior panels.

even if each piece is sanded and primed is it still not very permanent? any other opinions? i just dont know if i'll be able to find every dash piece im looking for.

dont do white either... it usually turns yellow or brown before long... stick with factory pieces if you can

The interior in my CRX is mostly factory but the seats have been refabriced with black and grey (or to save money get some nice seat covers lol), the steering wheel is polished aluminum and black leather, my shifter knob and ebrake handle are aluminum, and some sections in my console and dash are polished aluminum (that was alittle expensive cause it was custom made). Even if you didn't replace parts of the dash though it still looks really good and it will pretty much match any exterior color. My car is teal, and it matches really good. Looks great though.

Yeah, don't paint. Even if you alcohol bath, sand, alcohol, prime, paint... give it a month or two, it'll look like ass. I painted the interior of my 97 hatch and it went all to shit in a few months - I even used the expensive plastic paint for the repaint a year later, still looked like ass shortly after. The vent pieces seemed to hold the paint pretty well however - likely because they aren't bumped as much as everything else. Had the car painted for 3 years - lots of chips from regular use, the seatbelts chipped a lot off from bumping the doors, the paint faded awkwardly because of the variety of shadows through the car....

you can put a search on my username and likely get the thread where I posted the how-to for painting your interior - if not PM me and I'll send you stuff. But you're better off leaving it stock, or replacing the pieces like 'Spoon suggested.
