Anyone ever race against a new Civic SI? Couple week ago I race a new Civic SI and it seem this is a soup-up Si. He want to get ahead of me but I won't let him and we side by side at 85 mph in the area where the speed limit was 40. But there was no cars around at that time and it's a straight road. :flamer: :dogpile: :rocket:

A friend of mine that works down the street met up for lunch one day and he was talking smack about my Max and how it was a family car and was ssslllooowww. I said ok, lets run. So we did at the stop light with no traffic ahead and a full open road and gunned it. We were almost neck and neck the first few seconds and I started pulling and pulling ahead of him, I could hear his car revving up very high and just could not pull ahead of me. At about 105mph I decided to shut it down because of traffic up ahead and pulled ahead of him by about 2 car lengths...he was mad.

COOL, I am glad you won the race. I told my friend the story about my
Max vs Civic Si. He said that his 99 Max(stock) will beat that Civic Si and will
also beat the 2000 Max SE, I don't know about that. And I don't have a chance to race him because we get out of work at a different time. Any one out there ever try racing a 4th gen VS 5th gen Max?

My friend has one! I hope we are talking about the same car the civic si that has 160HP, well his has the intake and a greddy exhaust and I told him at the light lets test these cars out and as soon as the light turned green I pulled off pretty quick away from him for half a block and he stopped. Yes we both have 5 speeds. I think he didnt have enough confidence in his car. I did race a civic hatch back that now that little light weight piece of metal was able to pull away from me on his second gear while I was still in first. His car was modified I dont know how much, all I know is that his sh.. was screaming hard, I could have taken him have we raced a bit longer but it was only for 1 block since the light turned red and there was a lot of traffic.

your maxima should easly take a civic si the civic has no torque my g20 could take a si with a intake and exhuast the just dont have enought torque i was racing at highway speeds started at 65 and ran up to 90 or 100 if your maxima cant take a Si you should be asshamed of your car

The torque or the max is only noticeable at high rpm ranges. However the si rev higher and also vtec which kicks in at higher ranges. The max lacks that. The max i must agree with does have a better 60-100 time because of the 6 cyc engine. The little four bangers cant keep up in higher mph ranges.

A new max could beat an older max no problem, just because of 32 more horsepower.
A max with a stick would beat a Si with a stick also. They are highly over-rated. I am not a fan of rice.

This should put an end to all the Max vs. Si talk you can hear the Si and see it when he hits Wide open throttle then you hear and see the max about 3 secs later hit WOT.http://movies.brianv.net/

Civic SI's are really weak belive me. My buddy has one and we decided to race on the highway at night. Well lets say, when we I was doing about 115 MPH, he was about 4 car lengths behind me. I know he has intake and exhaust, but his rice rocket could not keep up with our bad boys.

why? so i can get a sunroof, stock 17s, and nice stereo for $6000 more?
nah~~~~~......
if the SEs had different and better engines, i'd have seriously considered buying one. but the fact is, all Maximas have the exact same engine, same tranny(no special tranny for 00-01 SEs), and almost identical suspension except for the 'stiffer' stock bushings on the SEs....
i knew i was going to do alot of stuff on my own, so i opted not to go for the fully loaded SE....plus, i got a really really good deal on my car..:D

Stillen's charging you $351 retail price for the touring lip. i didn't have to pay because i got the lip for free(they needed a test car to take picture of the front lip...check out the Stillen's website under styling)....
install....well, because of my pearl color, it was just a bit more than i expected...they wanted $200 for paint and install...for non pearl colors, it's going to be around $100-$150 depending on a shop...

I just thought you might like the 5 speed on the SE, but it is a little to pricey, I agree. The 5 speed stick should be available across the line. A very nice car, either way.:)

I've raced several si's and one yesterday. Most of these cars were stockers but some were modded. On every occasion I smoked them, no prob. However I have a well modded n/a 5-spd.

I thought you needed to get the SE for the stick.
That considered, the GXE is better, especially if you mod it, like you have.:)

I will have to show this to those num-nuts at school who think civics are the best thing since sliced bread.
They were invented for seniors and single moms. Max's were made for driving (perhaps the reason they never made it mainstream??)

You claim you raced one new maxima do you know that the new 2000-2001 has 220 horses, and you drive a integra le all motor na, I raced a integra on the highway with one loud exhaust I even waited for him to catch up twice and there we went I smoked him. I will admit I lost to one bucket ass Honda civic Hatchback modded, how much I dont know he got me pretty good he pulled away on his third gear was screaming loud as hell I was only in 2nd too bad it was only for one block due to traffic.

I lost to a GSR once and an S2000 on the highway, those are the only Honda's to date I've lost too, but I rarely lose, if it's a race I know I have absolutely no shot at I don't bother the risk. All races have been close. I just took a mod'd 2000 Accord EX V6 Coupe last night on the FWY.

Well I never lost to a civic and Integra on any street race. I don't know what are you talking about( with some mods)?? Earlier today I did race
a Mercede AMG E55 or E65 but I learn my lesson on how fast the AMG can goes. This thing was extremly fast.:alien2: :bandit:

About 345 horsepower and 5 second 0-60, quarter in the 13's. Pretty good for a slushbox(automatic).
