ecm or tranny???

hows it goin guys.......my 95 aurora is all messed up....first all my dash and my visible computer in the car stops workin and comes back on from time to time........then my master brake cylinder goes so i replaced that...but in the mean time during all this this im driving engine light comes on and my tranny slips real hard from first to second........light stays on but tranny works fine....this happens a couple times over a span of baout a week........then it happenes again but when the light came on and the tranny slipped light stayed on but car was stuck in second gear and wouldnt shift out unless i shut the car off and turned it back on.....now whenever i drive and i keeo my foot on the gas or am driving at a steady speed over 25 the engine light comes on and car is stuck in second gear.........the tranny was rebuilt in 2003.....car has 177000 miles on it.......i dont wanna sppend too much money on this but i need it to last for at least another year so im willing to dump a little money into it..........is it the tranny or is it something cheaper like an ecu........ive been lookin on ecudirect and i dont mind buying an ecu and spendin 200 bux but they have no refunds so i need to find out if this sounds like a computer problem?.....any help would be awesome seeing as im a full time college student and im pretty much broke....i appreciate yur help....thanx

Go to **Edited Out by Moderator** and check shift solinoid replacement threads. You ain't the first with a shift problem. It probably is the solinoids.

Sorry but I would highly recommend not referring AF members to another automotive forum. Your post has been edited. However, what we may allow is a link directly to a tech procedure or relevant thread to another automotive forum as long as it will help the AF member. I had a very similar problem .... try searching for my threads. A new ECU fixed all the issues. If the shifting problem starts then goes away .... imo ... solenoids don't usually heal themselves.
