Parking Brake

I have a 04 Elantra GT with automatic and the parking brake will not release in cold weather (35 degrees or colder). I have to wait a few minutes until the car warms up and then I am able to disengage the parking brake lever. The parking brake works fine in warmer weather. The service tech is at a lost...He says that maybe the brake mechanism is dirty. Any thoughts!

I also have the same problem. My car has been serviced 4 times in the last month for frozen and seized brakes. The mechanics could not find the problem the first 3X because temps would warm up (under their care) and the brake would unstick. I would get the car back, temps drop again, and brakes stick again!! They've given me a complete brake job (1stX) , replaced the left rear caliper (2ndX), replaced the brake line (3rdX) and finally figured out the 4thX (temps stayed cold enough to see the problem) the parking brake cable was frozen solid!!! The cables are on backorder which means alot of other owners are having the same problem. The Hyundai mechanic says somehow moisture is getting into the cables. He then disengaged the parking brake permanently so that I could drive until the parts came in. He also said that this type of problem usually gets an investigation started for a possible recall. How this info helps!!
