1995, Stereo Displays "ERR" With Casette

Hello all, last week I bought my wife a 95 LeSabre Custom, 57,000mi, a real beauty of a car, $3400. We are Century and Olds Ciera ppl so this was a nice upgrade for her!

Anyway, when a casette is inserted, the stereo makes mechanical clicking sounds then displays ERR. This happened with several casettes.

Any ideas other than the obvious (failed casette player)?

You got it right! The OEM cassette players do not have a very long and fruitful life! Time for an upgrade?

Strange; the previous owner left lots of casettes in the car...

on a similar note I have the same problem in my 97 lesabre limited 58k.my CD /Cass player, my cassette has been jammed in there for over a year now.
what would you recommend for a mid price replacement for a good fit.
