Trans Question

Hey AF Fourm
I have a '96 GC I6. About a month ago the tranny started to slip(when cold), so i changed the fluid and filter, and also added a quart of Lucas Stop slip(it's worked before). My question is that are there any sensors that could possibly be bad that could cause the tranny to act up, or anything to help keep it going.
Thanks

How about a little more description of "slip". What exactly happens, and at what speeds?

It will usually slip from about 10-35 mph. Sometimes i can give it gas and it just rev's up and eventually engages. Other times i will be driving and before it shifts, it revs up 200-400 rpm quickly before shifting.
Thanks

First thing to check is your fluid level. If it's low, it could cause the problems you're talking about.
Is it always happening in the same gear, or does it affect all gears? If all gears, it points more to low fluid.
Also, how long has it been since the transmission fluid has been changed? Old fluid could also cause problems.
I'm not saying that there couldn't be some issue with the internals, but fluid is often the culprit.

there is a governer pressure sensor and solenoid in there I think!

It always happens in 1st or 2nd gear, also i changed the fluid and filter about 5k miles ago.
Thanks

In first and second, or while shifting from first and second?
If slipping in gear, you probably have some slippage. If shifting between, I'd suspect a seal (unless there's sensor problem)
You never said how many miles are on it.
