Well my muffler fell off so I guess it's time for something custom. What do you guys think? What sounds good on a 1.5L? I was thinking just straight pipe it, a guy at work said put a glasspack there but my bro said its going to sound like shit he said just to buy an exhaust, those chinese ones but i dont want to spend $200 and I hate the way they stick out on an angle. Tell me what you think.

A "glass pack" isn't a muffler, its just a resonator to help change the tone of your exhaust and maybe quiet it down a bit. If you run A straight exhaust you'll hate yourself, and besides the fact its not legal it will sound like ass, also its loud as hell. If you do go with a riced out straight through exhaust though, do it right and get a resonator or two otherwise you'll sound like a couple cards stuck in some bike spokes :)
And they don't have to come out at angles, mine comes out straight.
There are also other options that will replace your factory muffler location and sound good, like magnaflow and some others. In any case a catback system would be the most economical way you could go about doing it right. But theres always just getting a nice High flow muffler and not reworking the exhaust system.

do a turbo tune style muffler they sound pretty mean. oh yea ps glass packs sound like ass on anything that isnt muscle. it just adds more bad rap for import tuning.

Yeah, I didn't say glass pack..I said resonator, they may look the same but there is a big difference in the way they work. There are a few styles of muffler and resonators that all work to do the same thing in different ways. Throwing some cherry bomb style pack on there will cut out the raspy high note that you usually hear, but it will still sound like ass.

The exhaust on my crx looked just like Frodos.
I had glasspacks once upon a time and yes it sounded like ass.

I just have one of those Turbo flow, non straight through mufflers and basically straight 2.25 piping on my civic and it sounds normal. it pretty quiet. I used to have an apexi N1 turbo muffler. it sounded horrible. If i were to do it again I think I would get a magnaflow turbo muffler and a resonator then take it to a shop and just get it put on for like $150.

yeah cherry bombs are so shitty...I have a reactive muffler with the silencer removed...its not obnoxious like a lot of teenagers are putting on their civics but I wish I had saved the silencer that came with the muffler cause its still a little too loud for my taste...but yeah..get a high quality muffler and either buy some custom permanent piping from the cat, or take it to a good shop that uses high quality piping...voila..the exhaust will last longer than your car will

Yeah, mine is all lightweight thin wall tanabe piping with dual resonators, I dunno how it would sound with a CAT, It's just a straight tube bolted in place lol. Kinda made me chuckle when I took it apart.

I love the way frodogt's exhaust sounds, If I were still gonna do a B-series swap I'd run the same system as him, but I have a glass-pack exhaust on my car and I hate the way it sounds (I bought it with a "Thrush" glasspack already on it >_<)

I hate to say it, but if you want something quiet, go on ebay or just go to Advance Auto, and get a Monza sport exhaust.. I think it's made by Walker, and they make them for Civic Hatch, you just trim the mid pipe to fit your CRX... it's not loud, and, amazingly, doesn't sound like ass... but, it's about 150 for the cat-back, if I rememberize correctly, and it's basically a tube, a rez, and some "muffler-like" tips (Dual on single side, I think). Anyway, I've used them before, and they're not horrible, though they don't offer the highest performance advantage, sometimes, they sound like they do :P
And, while you're at it, don't forget to get the re-re "high flow" (reworked) cat for your CRX from ebay.. it's like 20$, prolly does nothing at all for performance, but it sounds cool... and it's made from a reworked cat that went to something else... I know since I called one of the ppl that sells them from that company lol... either way, it will sound better and less "cut off" if you replace the cat, since yours is pry starting to get plugged up from 25 years or so of running the car.

monza is made by pacesetter. isn't it?

yeah, but since advance sells it, I assume that walker owns pacesetter... since most everything exhaustwise that advance sells is walker... same with autozone.
