Brake Line Leak

Hello Everyone!!!
I Have A 2000 Tahoe Limited And I Noticed There Is A Minor Brake-line Leak By The Rear D/s Tire. I Crowled Underneath My Truck And Notice Brake Fluid Running Down The Rear D/s Shock And Finally Tracked The Leak To The Source (i Think).

The Leak Seems To Come From The Junction Where The Metalic Brake Line (coming From The Front) Converst To A Rubber Line. I Don't Know What This Part Is Called, I Can Describe It As A Metal Plate, One Side Is The Rubber Line Feeding A T-connection, Which Supplies Each Wheel, And The Other Side Is The Metal Line Running Through A Five Or Six Side Bolt.

I Asked Around And A Mechanic Friend Of Mine Suggested I Buy A Line Wrench (flare Wrench) And Tighten The Bolt. He Said To First Check How Loose The Bolt Is, By Turning Counter Clockwise, Before Turning Clockwise To Tighten.

I Left A Carboard Box Underneath My Truck Over Night And Noticed The Leak Is Less, But Still Leaking.

Any Suggestions Tahoe Fans??? Please Help.

Your friend gave you good advice. You should figure out what size line wrench you need (or buy a set). I can't remember if it is metric or not (anyone know for sure?).

It could also be leaking from the rubber line and in that case, it needs to be replaced.

So here is an update.

So I was working on my truck today. I noticed the rear d/s shock, after market Rancho shocks, and the break line were rubbing. As soon as I pulled the brake line away from the shock the drip got worse! Appearently, because of the movement or vibration, the shock body and line rubbed so much, it cause the brake line to have a whole in it. I tried moving the line back up against the shock, but it was to late. All the brake fluid from that line spilled and I think its time for a new one.

I don't know if I should bring this issue up with the shop that sold me the rancho's and pass the repairs over to the shop or rancho. the shock body is wider (thicker) then it should be and caused this problem.

About the solution. I couldn't see it, but it felt like the brake line connects at several points, and does not run in one piece from the engine compartment to the rear. Can anyone confirm.

If I am lucky, I think the line has a connect running up in the chasis rail and I don't have to replace the entire line, just the portion that is broken. It looks like an easy fix. Has anyone ever attempted this before.
