A few problems on a 96 Cherokee Ltd

Hi, I recently purchased a 96 Jeep Cherokee LTD, V8, 4x4. Most everything works fine but I've noticed a few things that I hope yall can help me with.

First, and most importantly, the towing lights are not working. By the towing hitch there is the round 7 wire connector and also a brake light. Initially that light worked when I pressed the breaks, now it is not working. I use an adapter to go from the round style to the four wire for my trailer lights and they were also initially working when I plugged in. After one trip towing my boat the lights were not working. I checked the fuse for the tow lights, it looked good but I replaced anyway, but it did not solve the problem. Also, checked the trailer lights by hooking to another truck and they work, so the problem is not there. Any suggestions on how to fix would be great.

The other problems are that the cruise control will not come on, which I can live without but it would be nice to have, and also the carpet on the front passenger side stays wet constantly and I can't tell where the leak is comming from.

Thanks.

For the towing lights check for a bad ground or you might want to replace the hazard/flasher relay with a heavy duty one.
For the wet carpet, check that the A/C drain hose from the evaporator is not clogged, if it is it could cause the water to back up into the passenger compartment..or the seal around the evaporator (under the pass. dash) could have gone bad.

Water leaks are likely to be the windshield glass seal which can leak on the glass side and the body side. A windshield shop can reseal it for you.

Also, the heater blower motor seal can leak.

CHeck around the plug thats on the jeep moving them around you may have disrupted the connection within the terminal. Is there any green corresion in the plug

And for the wet floor make sure your floor pans still exist. The ones on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee were completely gone (rusted away) but the rest of the vehicle looks like new even the frame rails look great...
