I am finally getting rid of my wifes saturn vue awd, this car has been nothing but trouble and never again will I by a saturn. The Rav 4 was our second choice when looking at the saturn, now we will get one.

My question is what the better engine is the I4 or V6, this will be a daily drive for my wife and kids. gas mileage is a consideration but I want the most realible engine and powertrain.

So what do you all think.

Thanks

Bought an 06 I4 Sport a few months ago for the wife. She is happy with it. We test drove a V6 at the time and didn't see enough of a power difference to justify the extra 2 grand. Getting 25-26 mpg on 50/50 highway/city driving. Getting 30-31 on long trips. We're happy.

Believe these engines haven't been around long so not sure on the reliability issue. I would think it's safe to say it's not an issue if it says Toyota on the rear door. I've owned other Toyotas for years and have had no major issues exept for my 87 with 250k miles that started showing metal in the oil at about 220K miles two +years ago. It still purs like a kitten.
