The terms part-time and full-time can be misleading.
They are two transfer cases designs and they refer to driving in four wheel drive while on pavement.
Both transfer cases are "full-time" while in four wheel drive LO range. This range is normally only used in more extreme 'wheeling' situations.
Look here for an explanation of the 'Command-Trac' (part-time system):

It can be a little confusing.
"Part Time" should only be used part time, like when you're offroad.
"Full Time" can be used all the time, regardless of where you are.
