I use it, but I have never done either of those things you are asking to it, so I would not know.
I think, if it has had plenty of time to dry, you could polish it, but I have heard that it's not a good thing to polish paint colors like Aluminum.

I haven't tried polishing it. I've heard that their metallics don't like being polished, and I've sprayed clear on very carefully in light mist coats immediately after spraying the gloss aluminum. You have to be careful w/the first few coats.
BTW, if you're letting it dry for longer than an hour, you must wait 2-4 weeks before applying clear. If you want to clearcoat it, I'd spray on a few mist coats of the gloss aluminum and then carefully apply some clear over that immediately. It takes practice, if you spray the clear on too fast/heavy it will affect the silver underneath.
The TS17 w/clearcoat came out great on this Eldorado I restored:

You definitely don't want to polish Gloss Aluminun, spray a clearcoat and polish the clear coat instead. The silver color magnifies swirl marks and such

A couple more Eldorado pics mate
Okay, first is a picture of the rough and crusty promo before I did any body work. The chrome had been replated by this time.
