lost performacne, burning smell

Hi all

Just started having a few problems with my car (http://www.autoforumz.com/Lost-performace-burning-smell-ftopict186262.html#) which i'll try to explain. its a 2000 1.6 Astra. The past couple of days the performance as really dissapeared from it. Starts fine but takes twice as long to reach speeds in all gears and after a while i get a smell of something burning from under the hood/bonnet. It doesn't smell like oil and is possibly electrical? Any ideas?

Check the air filter is not blocked. Also check the oil level, water level and have the spark plugs checked.

Other possibilities are exhaust restriction, lean mixture, and a host of others. Can you describe the odor further?
