s2k or s4?

who would win? Honda S2000 or an Audi S4?

I haven't voted yet, 'cause I have to go read more about the S4.

i have not voted... but hey... i like the s4 overall... but i have driven it... the handling is amazing, and the tq pours on in gobs... and hell.. with 250hp and similar tq, it isnt hard to imagine what it can do... but it does weigh more, and the quattro awd doesnt allow wheelspin, so that is the only downfall.
but six forward gears and tons of power in each through the ENTIRE rev range isnt a bad spot to start...
the other thing to note is that they are awesome in the wet... which is when i drove it... and it stuck on rails... not like the s2k doesnt, but rwd in the wet at high speeds usually equals a spin...
the other thing that is nice about the s4 is the non spartan interior (with room for four) and the allseason driveability...
so my thumbs up goes there,but if we are going for pure fun factor... its tough, b/c i love lowend... but i love highend... the s2k has high end out the yinyang, but the s4 has the lowend... and for its considerably lower redline, tons of highend... not bad...
to break it all down... living in cleveland like i do, i would take the s4... i can drive it year round, and thats good, b/c i hate drivin a beater

the big diff is in the 500 lbs wt diff, but then again, the tq diff makes up for that... it would be hella close, and if i wanted to have a neutral track car, it would be the s4, but only b/c i have the drivability bias goin on...

one more note...
i dint officially time the 0-100 in the s4, but i can assure you that it is at least what the s2k has, b/c of the average times in my car on a certain quiet stretch of two lane... it is hella quicker than mine to 100, and im not realllllly far off the s2k... guess i would have to go drive another one... darn.

The S4. I think the S2000 has the looks but it should have more torque IMHO. :D

yeah... the s2k lacks low end torque, but it gets the style points. you cant argue with a 9 and a half thousand rpm redline:D

Stock wise Audi S4 would win 6 out of 10 times. S4 is more consistent and easier to launch than S2000.

Modify wise Audi S4 would walk over S2000. No comparision here.


Fun wise S2000 wins and I haven't seen anything come close to it. No joy is comparable to the feeling you get at 9000rpm.

you were one of my fave people on that board... you werent a stupid ricer... apparently a rarity when you talk about an s2k...

i know that a modded s4 would walk all over the s2k... but not many parts are out for the s2k yet. its too new.

agreed... it is really hard to get an s2k to the 600hp range... safely... vs the s4... and the awd? hmm... the 9kredline is cool... no doubt... but i really like an s4

9k redline is nice but its also bad because if i rember correctly the real power in the doesnt kick in till around 6k the audi has a much lower power band

Yes I am 9000RPM from Superhonda. I notice your nickname before as well but I wasn't sure if it is the same person or not. Some cars are meant to be left stock. S2000 has a perfect balance of everything I need so why play with it?

Actually there is a lot of parts out for S2000. Just nothing can get you the perfromance you gain from modding S4. The comptech supercharger makes 340hp at the flywheel at 9000RPM. It cost 5000 dollar just to buy the system. Performance gain per dollar is uncomparable between the two.

S4 have a flat powerband from 1900RPM on. Whereas S2000's VTEC doesn't kick in until 6000RPM. But I found it common people think S2000 won't move below 6000RPM. Usually I shift at 5000RPM and it
s enough to go past most cars. You don't need to be driving at 9000RPM at all times to enjoy the car!

true but maybe its just me but i would rather have a car with a power at 1900 instead of 6 grand but you tell me youve got them both lucky mutha

Give me an S4 any day over the honda.. It looks sweet you can haul all your friends and its fast, what more would you want.

Im thinking of the S4 here... AWD BiTurbo.. gives me chills thinking about it. How easy would it be to upgrade it and make it even faster..

That's one reasons why I don't drive it that much. It's really hard to say no to people for rides. Sometimes you just not going that way and yet people still want you to drive them elsewhere. I save a lot of trouble by having a smaller 2 seater. I am not a taxi driver for god sake.

S2000 better sports car, A4 better car car.

I like the Audi better and its more Original....we have about 8 s2k's and 1 audi s4 in my city :bloated:

i'd love to have both cars. S4 for a daily driver, the S2K for my weekend cruiser. :D i have to agree with what's been said, the S4 should have an easy job off the line. once the S2K's engine gets up to speed though, it should be pretty close. and for consistency, the S2K isn't the best car. so i choose the S4 in this comparo. the S2K is just an absolute joy to drive when you can get on it. the S4 just does it all, carries people and cargo, goes fast, looks good, takes well to mods.

S4 for me.
