Engine swap quick question

My buddy has a 1990 Plymouth Laser MT in which the engine has just taken a dive. The compression on it is WAY lower than spec and it won't start. I have searched for a few engines for him and I found one that is from a 1994 Eagle Talon MT w/ 88K on it for $550. Will this engine work for his Laser? Are there any problems we might run into? Wanna make sure everything is kosher before I go ahead and call the place on Monday.

TIA,
Jeremy

Well it depends. Which motor is in it now and what motor is in the 94?

If they are both the 1.8 motors then I would say go for it. There should be no difference between the two.

Good deal.. thanks for the quick replies. I have read alot of things about the engines and stuff changing from year to year so I wanted to make sure first.

Thanks again!
