Hey guys, the weather warmed up... kind of, so I decided to freeze my ass and put on the lip I got not too long ago. I was just curious what people outside of the rotary world thought of the lip. I couldn't decide wheather I should cut the bottom part of my bumper off for a larger air dam, or leave it the way it is. It looks good either way to me, but anything on my car looks good to me :) ..except bird shit. What would you prefer seeing on the road?

Here's with the bottom of my bumper intact:

..and here it is with the bottom cut off:

Keep in mind, if I were to cut the bottom off, I'd get some mesh and paint it black to put on.

So any thoughts, comments, etc. are very welcome.. even if you want to call it rice  ..and no, an LS1 will not be occupying the engine bay :) Thanks a lot, cheers!

I'd say keep it on, it's up to you of course.

If it's cut off, you need a FMIC in there. If you keep the peice, then just a grill will do fine. And that's final. Thank you.

I think it'd look better without a FMIC :) I just find it more of a clean look. I personally hate the look of FMIC... especially with IC pipes coming out of where the foglights should be etc. I don't even like the look of them on FDs. Thanks for everyone's comments. After seeing what you guys have to say, keeping the bottom of my bumper reminds me of the middle grill of the NSX, so I guess it's not so bad.

Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't look like a NSX. Am I right or just massively not up to speed on knowing my NSXs?

Uhhh... I don't see the NSX in it?

On the stock NSX, there is a bar in the middle of the air dam, much like my bumper uncut with the bumper.

The picture I posted was to merely show you that not having a FMIC with the Odula lip doesn't look bad :licka: Also, the bottom of the bumper is cut on the red FC, so if you read the last sentence, it wouldn't make sense, would it ;) Sorry for the confusion.

If you would like, I suppose I could find a picture of an NSX, and then draw giant circles around what I'm talking about.

Ha ha, I dont either.... ? I dont think it looks bad, Lucky, however if it were mine I would just take it off. I love the look of stock FC's.

I like it with the bar cut. Rx-7's are real nice. It would be interesting to own a FD one day, after I get an evo 9 lol.

I like it better cut off, it looks a little clunky and unecessary with the bar still on there. And oh yea, if you don't like the look of a FMIC, you could always paint it black. My friend with a black 1.8T Jetta did that, very stealthy. But then again, if you're not upgrading the radiator to like Koyo or FMIC, might as well leave the bar on it.

Beware of steep driveways and speed bumps!

Me likey without the bar.

I think it looks a bit better with the bar. The lines look odd without it.

Btw, why did everyone start doing that LS1 in an RX7 thing all of a sudden? A coulple of cars have entered SCC's USCC and it never works correctly. And it seems like it would screw up the RX7's perfect weight distribution. Just wondering.

The thing with "busy" bumper designs is that they draw away from the overall picture and give you a headache when trying to focus on all the little details. So, I like "big mouth" style bumpers...the 2Gb, '99 3000GT, etc., and that includes your bumper witout the bar in the middle. That's why I left the center of the lip on my spyder black: it adds to the "big mouthiness" of the whole thing. So, +1 on leaving out the center bar.
