Anyone know if this goes against your credit report as an inquiry?

I think it would because it requires the dealer to check your credit to see how "worthy" you are and what rate you qualify for.It would be just like walking into a "bricks and mortar" dealership and filling out an application in person. If you want to find out, wait awhile after applying online and get a copy of your report and check the section that list recent inquiries, and from whom. If you are denied credit from any source, you are entitled to a free copy of your credit report. There have been some changes in the credit reporting process in recent years. When you apply for a mortgage or car loan, you are not "hit' in your credit score like you were in the past. They (the credit reporting agency) gives you a window of time to apply and generally all those requests will only count as one "hit" on your score. I guess they realize that consumers will shop around to get the best deals on financing and vehicles, and some were afraid of too many requests could have a negative affect on their score. This way they are free to seek out the best deal and not be penalized. I believe the timeframe for mortgages is 45 days, not sure what it is for vehicle purchases.
