I get back 2K for my tax return. Should i get my car painted, rims, body kit,and lowerd or should i do a b16a1 swap. If i decide to do the swap what do i have to do to the car besides mpfi swap? And whats everything that i need for the swap?

idk do a search..this question is answered a million times..do you want show or go?? id say go for the motor swap. you dont have to get a b16..you could just invest that money in some pistons, rods, and a turbo to make a little sohc monster. its up to you dude.

if u play it smart u might be able to stretch $2000 for a swap and maybe rims or lowering springs..if i were you id go for the swap..cause if u dont normally run into those kinda sums of money or have a problem saving..id just do the swap..which is the most expensive thing on ur to do list..trust me ud regret body kits and paint with a slowass d15:grinyes:

boost the D series...fuck the B swaps. You can make 230whp for like $1500 on a stock D. If you have the money later, build the engine w/ Vitaras and Eagle rods then boost the hell out of it. There are a lot of people pushing 400whp on Vitara pistons and Eagle rod setups on D's....

I think im gonna just boost the D series cause its from a 97 civic its a d16a7 i think..Where can i go to buy the pistons and rods..

Also sense i am doing the turbo pistons and rods what do i have to do to the block and the head...or just leave them like they are or get new cam?

Lsvtec/GSR swap. Much more potential.

Good luck with your ebay turbo kit. Also, those are 75.5mm pistons. You're going to need to bore your block to fit them.

You will save yourself money/time/hassle by researching your decision on that turbo kit.
About the only thing worth a damn with those kits are the hose couplings, and clamps, and thats pushing it.

that turbo kit is basically an expensive paperweight.....also, if you research on TD16, boosting is arguably the best way to make a D fast. I have a buddy w/ a turbo stock engine D, it is much faster than any LS/VTEC swapped hatch i've ever seen. I'm sticking to my guns...
"boost is the most cost-effective way to make power on a D series car"
swapping is going to net you 155whp at best, whereas a boosted D can make 180-200whp no problem for the same if not less money

don't buy the turbo kit off ebay. save yourself money. i'd go for the swap. or a full-race.com turbo kit. or piece together your own turbo kit. good luck.

Your funny. I cut 12.7's in my all motor lsvtec crx with 201 whp. I like to see a 180-200whp Dseries break 12's. Even 13's will be tough. You haven't seen too many lsvtec motors obviously. A good friend with a lsvtec cuts 12.1's in an EG, all motor. She's a female at that.
A DOHC motor is far superior to a SOHC for the simple reason that you have control of tuning each set of valves individually. Not to mention, 1.5/6's don't have very impressive torque curves.
I'm not going to argue this. It's fact, not opinion. If you can't agree, it only shows how uneducated and stubborn you are.
I do agree however, that boost is really the only way to make power on a D. The highest whp all motor D's only push 180-190 whp and they're track only cars that barely break 12's.
And again, more whp does not mean faster. It obvious when you consider some 500 whp turbo honda's running 11's, when the same can be done, all motor, with 250 whp. I'm not trying to turn this into a all motor vs. turbo argument. I'm just stating that obvious, that a B is far superior in design than a D.
And if price is your argument, my LS block cost me $100 and my B16 head cost me $500. Total for the motor was $600. That's right around what a D would cost you.

yeah dude i agree..u guys can go ur own way..i had a ls/vtec turbo boosting about 15psi and got my ass handed to me by a reliable n/a ls/vtec and for almost a quick second i thought i was the shit..i had one of the most respectable ppl tune my car with some internal work done and expected to run low 12's..my word cant be taken as gold cause it was never tracked..i figured i was about 300whp and dudes swap was about 220 n/a a slightly worked ls/vtec with ITR lsd and he took me off the line for a brief second..had him about 30-60..then it was total curtains for me..my next build will be b-series n/a

I'm aiming for 10's with my next build out of a 260whp+ NA B motor, on pump gas.

I'm on the same page with homie right here...I'm finishing up my B20 and will be looking at about 215-220 to the wheels. And that should put me in the mid 12's or low 12's once I get use to the setup.
D's are cool...and I give much props and love to the people who choose to go that route. But it comes down to how you feel and what you want to do! Do let people sway your opinion or feelings! Build a car that you are going to be happy with. I've worked with nothing but B-Series engines, but I have always wanted to build a Turbo SOHC D. Maybe one of these days I will get around to it.
But like I said it's up to you homie and what you want, and how much you are willing to spend! One piece of advice that i can give you from all these years under my belt! is DON'T CUT CORNERS! don't go buying cheap/knock off shit, buy quality parts even if it takes you longer to accomplish your goals you will be happy with the end results!
