IS the upgrade to a glass convertible rear window worth the price difference? My 87 is ready for a replacment top. Some of you Corvette people must have some experience you can share. 59 Chevy

While I haven't had a Y-body convertible, I have had a few others. My '65 Caprice had glass and never had a problem. My '64 LeMans had plastic originally and it bit the big one. I had an '80 LeMans with the same problem, but retrofit tempered glass into it. The glass is a lot more transparent than the PVC or polycarbonate inserts after only a couple years.
My understanding is that the glass on a Y-body requires a smaller opening due to the manner in which the top folds, but being able to see clearly through a smaller opening is better than not being able to see at all through a larger, blurred opening.
Just my 2¢
