hello everyone. Some of you might know me. I have a jdm crx and i really like this car. It WILL be the last crx i own. I have had alot of problems with the car. I bought us 91 crx parts and keep running into issues( front rotors are same as us integra, Rear suspension is same as 88 us models). i know it is my responability to know this stuff but the shop i go to doesnt seem to know about it either. They never knew that stuff would fit either. I figure they would. My left wheel bearing needs to be replaced and they dont know if it is integra or crx parts. Now they say my LSD is going out and it needs to be replaced. This is the thing.
1. does anybody know of a really great place to take cars for work in Phoenix? i usually find parts myself becaue the shop usually gets dealership parts and that is expensive. I need knowledge and good labor.
2. I am looking to get my tranny rebuilt completley. Same for engine in future.
3. the engine. I want to keep the b16 block and stay NA. i want all internal parts to be JDM honda. No aftermarket parts. ie. civic typr r integra type r
4. thanks to all who respond.

If you ever plan on making some decent all motor power out of your motor, you're going to need to swap in the taller 1.8 block. The 1.6 can't accomodate the larger GSR/ITR or LS crank/rod combos because of it's shorter deck height. It's VERY hard to extract power out of a B16 unless you'd like to turbocharge it.
You're also limited on the power you can make on OEM cast pistons. I'd recommend swapping to a 1.8 block and using Wiseco pistons/Carillo rods for a bulletproof setup.
As for your LSD, did they say why they think it's going bad? Is it giving YOU any trouble? I'd personally be weary with most import shops as they know what parts are worth more money on the market and they could potentially steal your LSD and not reinstall it if they think you don't know much and probably wouldn't notice. Not saying that's what they'd do, but there are alot of shady import shops out there. Thank-god I do ALL my own motor building. I had a good friend of mine bring his motor and all his parts to a shop in NJ from here in CT. He had aftermarket rods/pistons and cams/valvetrain to be installed. Well, come to find out when he blew it up, there were still stock rods/pistons. See what I mean?

well, you know when the cv joints are going out and it makes a clicking noise. well i had the axles replaced and that is when they told me it is not the axles but the lsd. it is not the same clicking noise but it is close. it defiently sounds like something internal. It makes the car vibrate pretty bad. They told me if it is really bad to lay off the throttle a little. It makes the noise REALLY bad making left turns. Sometimes while going straight( especially from a dead stop and pretty much does not make the noise while turning right, but it starts to make the noise as i straightened the steering wheel. It has a cluthch that pretty much is either engaged or not engaged. The guy i bought it from did not know too much about the car except it was US legal and the guy was trying to set it up to race. The guy had like 15 cars and just did;nt have time to play with this one anymore.

A lot of people complain about how expensive these cars are. If you know anything about fixing them yourself, and have had other imports you would now how cheap the parts are for this car. Labour is always what kills you, not the parts. As for your clicking problem: that really doesn't sound like the LSD, I think they tried rebuilding the cv's themselves, or stuck some junkyard parts on there and hoped you wouldn't notice. Sounds like at the very least your left inner cv joint is frucked, the fact it it clicks around left turns and vibrates while going straight and accelerating indicates an inner joint failure

no, it is not the cv joint. My left wheel bearing is also needing to be replaced( does anybody know if it would be US crx parts or US 90-93 integra parts). There is also a rattlinmg sound coming from wht sounds like inside my tranny. The guy said it was a heat sheild but trust me, it is not. It may not be the tranny but something is getting bouced around. The clutch usually makes a metal to metal rubbing sound that is kinda loud. Not a grinding sound but rubbing. Suggestions on a good clucth/light flywheel combo? I had a shaved stock honda flywheel and act stage 3( which was a littlle over kill) but it worked good. Bam, if i am going to change my block then i should just go with a b20 block. I am pretty sure it was you that had that huge write up on building it. Pretty much it sounds like you have the set up i want. I already called honda auto salvage here in phoenix and no tranny. Any reputable places to get a tranny rebuilt. Alos i want to put in an integra LS 5th gear to get good highway milage. This is possible, right?

I'd steer away from the B20 blocks. They have a problem with cracking sleeves. You could possibly get lucky and find one that can handle the abuse, but there's no way to tell by examining it.
Stick to the LS/GSR/ITR blocks.
