Gentlemen:

Looks like i need to replace the water pump on my 94 concorde 3.5L. Do i need to remove the harmonic balancer to remove the cover plate, or can i take the coverplate off without pulling the balancer? Thanks for any info you can share.....

I have the 1994 Chrylser Service Manual for the Concorde, and here is what it says for the 3.5 L (loosely translated).

The water pump is driven by the timing belt, so the belt must be removed to provide access to water pump.

Removal of the belt
1. Drain cooling system and remove the radiator for access to timing belt covers.
2. Remove the accessory drive belts.
3. Remove the crankshaft damper (the Figure illustrated shows using "Special Tool 1023" and "Special Tool C4685-C2 Insert" for this step).
4. Remove the stamped steel cover. DO NOT REMOVE THE SEALER ON THE COVER, IT IS REUSABLE. If some sealer is missing, use Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or equivalent to replace the missing sealer.
5. Mark belt running direction for installation.
6. Align the crankshaft sprockets with marks on rear covers before timing belt is removed.
7. Remove the timing belt tensioner and remove timing belt.
8. When the tensioner is removed from the engine it is necessary to compress the plunger into the tensioner body.
9. Place the tensioner into a vise and slowly compress the plunger. CAUTION - index the tensioner in the vise the same way it is installed on the engine. This is to ensure proper pin orientation when tensioner is installed on the engine.
10. When plunger is compressed into the tensioner body install a pin through the body and plunger to retain plunger in place until tensioner is installed.

That water pump is a pain. I was over my folks house and my dad was telling me that he needs to change my moms again...for the third time.
