hey all,
i did a quick search of the forum but didn't find anything on this topic. so forgive me if this question or a similar one has been asked already.
I reccently got a 2002 blazer Xtreme, and had a few questions on it.
some of the vehicle basics:
vortec 4.3L V6
automatic
2wd
52,000 miles
heres the questions:
can i put a jackson or vortec super charger on this engine without damaging the engine?
what brand super charger would be the best to put on the vehicle, including type of super charger (i.e. ball bearing vortec)?
what would be the maximum boost i could safely run with out damaging anything?
and finally the pesky little governor on the engine, how can i eradicate it? because as it is it cuts me off at 96 mph and the engine easily gets to this point by itself. i have a good 3,000 rpms left before i would redline. so to me it would be pointless to supercharge it unless i can get rid of the governor.
thanks
joel

if you have specific supercharger questions, ask blazerss. he has a vortec kit on his 98 blazer. you should build the internals before putting a blower on it. also consider strengthening the trans and rear end. as for the speed limiter you will need a hand held programer or other tuning software to raise it. it can't be completely removed.

Yes you could have put a Vortech supercharger on your Blazer. But Vortech discontinued there setup for the 4.3! You might find a setup some where ( good luck ), they ran about $ 3500.00. They were complete setups that included every little thing , down to the tiewraps.
The Vortech system was a true bolt on. Meaning that it was designed for the stock engine and internals. Anything extra that you do to your engine would only enhance the setup. This system to me far outdid the procharger and windjammer setups ( they still make setups for the 4.3 ) . The Vortec also included the IS6 ignition system with the retard feature, fuel pump and brackets.
Our engines can take 8psi of boost with no problem! The plastic intake cover is tougher than people give it credit for.
just make sure that your map sensor is seated all of the way down and it will not blow off.
Look at the post (real performance from a v6) and try some of the cost nothing mods. Then try out some of the other things, but start at the least costly and work your way up to the costly and engine tear down options. Even the tear down items will ony require a weekend!
Try (superchargers4less) they can give you a good start and are the cheapest.
The only difference from your engine to mine is the missing EGR valve and the roller trunions. Other than that they are exactly the same. Just a different program of the ECM. That negated the EGR.
If you are going with the supercharger , think, well you have to, get headers and a less restrictive exhaust. the CAI is a given. MAF is fine (your discretion if you want to remove your screen or not) Leave restrictor altering alone! Why waste gas. If you want the same thing just switch to a 160 deg thermostat! Which I really don't recomend! But it is the lesser of the evils. 180deg is the lowest that I would personally go.
Some things that people don't think about, If you make your engine more powerful. UPGRADE YOUR BRAKES!!
