hey guys. im having some trouble...:banghead: ive replaced the cam sensor -still getting code 41.soooo i finally looked and found the magnet is gone.3.8 liter w/ 200k miles.do i have to pull timing chain cover and gears...might as well i think w/ that many miles and no idea when or even if its ever had new chain.anyways im just curious of install of sensor interruptor.thanks in advance:rolleyes:

I would just pull it apart, install a new timing set and waterpump. :2cents:

When you replaced it the first time was the tip of the sensor missing then too? Maybe you are having some clearance issues.

Hang on.. on my 94' be aware the CRANK sensor threw that code.. .too..
Mine did alot... Dont know the odds but dont be suprised..

With that many miles you would definately be better off to remove the cover and replace the gears, damper, chain, magnet, gaskets, and the crank sensor. Although I doubt the CPS is the source of the code as you said the magnet was gone, but it would just be preventative maintenance if it is the original sensor.

I agree with everyone who said to just replace everything. At 140,000 miles my timing set needed changing.

I got them to open up the front cover and replace everything in there (magnet, chains, gears, water pump, etc.) around 95k a year or so back for my 91. Its the only way to justify the labor to stick in a stupid $15 magnet.
