I better be everybody's favorite mod :grinyes: and to do only by the ladies :lol2:
Anyways
I enjoyed the long summer nights of dialing mine and my nieghbors engines in.
That was always fun and a good excuse to sit around and enjoy the nice warm nights.

I WANT to do a H/C 396 stroker.

i thought 383ci was the biggest capacity you could get from a small block, no?

Nope, there are 396 LT1's. Golen Performance makes some.

396 is about the largest displacement LT1 that ive seen but there are sbc's with with over 400ci.

oops, my mistake. yeah, i meant to say 350 smallblock, i didn't know the LT1 could reach 396ci. is the LS1 that can't go above 383?
but for fun mods, you want a blown 572. my mate was round here earlier in one of the cars from where he works, a '63 Nova with a blown 572. twin carbs and blower/scoop through the hood. damn, that thing looked mean, sounded meaner and accelerated like it ran on 120-ocante evil!

I bet you could watch the gas gauge needle travel to 'E' if you got on the Nova. Sounds wicked.

haha, it only has a light. it's got a custom-made fuel tank in the back. that thing was lifting the front wheels off the ground quite a lot, luckily it had some wheelie bars up back so we didn't take off.
we went down to a local road that's completely straight and just went for it at the lights, it roared like hell, damn that thing can pull. it was a little scary, but really fun.

for a stock ls1 block that sounds about right but im not sure. the C5R block is a 427 and there are other LS strokers over 400ci, up to about 421ci but they probably don't use the stock block.

how strong are they with that much bored out?
my friends have built engines at work and they're decreased the displacement to improve strength, with thicker sleeves and such.

so how do you define between a small-block and a big-block?
i thought there was a sort of grey area withing displacements that seperated them. like 383 was the top end of the small-block.
i guess that was wrong.

The 400 block was considered a small block . The reason why most people don't go over 396 in LT1's due to the block strength with higher compression.

small and big block is determined by the actual physical size. Big blocks are noticibly bigger, mostly in width.

I had no idea what an "EMO" was until I followed that link. That's some funny shit there. I just considered the whole bunch of them morons, had no idea they gave themselves a moniker that makes you think of a pencil necked, goofy looking bird that can't fly... fitting actually.

thats for the help with the big-block thing guys.
i was confused but stuff like the GM Performance Parts site talking about the LS7 being a small-block, and how to determinte big-block from small-block apart.
my friends had a 854ci big-block custom made by a US specialist for their dragster at work
