i need new tires
i think my brakes are rubbing in the back or something
i think i need new u joints
front end alignment

what would be cost of this taking it in compared to doing it myself

also do you think it would be smarter just to sell the truck?

If you sell the truck or trade it in, the value of the truck will be adjusted downward to account for the repaires needed.

When you do the work yourself it only costs 1/4 of what a dealer would charge and only about 1/3 of what a repair shop would charge.

However, in regards to the repairs you listed: new tires & alignment you can't do yourself. If you haven't done u-joints before I woud say let a shop do it.

Between the brakes and universals you could spend up to #200 for parts in a worst-case scenario - That would be drums, linings, wheel cylinders, park brake cables and a pair of U-joints. Tires should be less than $500 installed. Alignment by a good shop should be around $100, and should be done shortly after installing the new tires.

Basically, for what a couple payments on a different vehicle might cost, you'd have your repairs complete.
