2003 Focus needs new tranny

My friend has a 2003 Ford Focus SE. It just rolled over to 50,000 no more than two weeks ago, and last week the transmission blew.

She's had nothing but problems with this stupid car and she still owes a hefty chunk on it. Understandably she's not really willing to shell out the $1100+ for a brand new tranny. Anyone have any advice on where would be a good place to look for used/rebuilt trannys for this car? We live in Florida, if that should happen to make a difference, and the transmission we need is the DOHC 3S4P-DA.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

My daughter has a 2003 Focus ZTS, trans was slipping a little (very rarely) under certain conditions. The agency replaced some kind of valve, under warrenty. Some 2003 Focus's have a 5 year/50,000 mile warrenty & hers was one of them. There is nothing in the owners manual about this warrenty, they can only tell VIN number. Her's is a great running car.
Good luck!!

I have a 2001 focus i bought in september of 2000 and my tranny is along with the engine is probably the only thing that hasnt gone on it. The car just turned 87,000 miles. Coil pack melted last week, had to have that replaced along with new wires and plugs. Had to drop $430 :(
