I owen a 2003 Silverado 2500hd diesel the warranty don't cover lights which I under stand . The problem is the heater controls are an LED light that can't be replaced. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole control at $176 +tax +labor any sujestions on how to get it taken care of.:banghead: :banghead:

I personally don't know how to do it, but I assure you that LED's can indeed be replaced, though the dealer probably doesn't want to and told you they can't because it isn't a typical install part ie they have the whole cluster, but not the individual LED's. Go to a radio repair shop, they should be able to help I think.

Yeah, you've just got to de-solder the bad ones and solder new ones in their place.
I'd fight them over it, though. Or just try a different dealer. If that doesn't work, contact GM directly.

I've got the GM Total Plus 0 deductible extended warranty and I've had just about every switch and control already replaced due to backlighting issues, all with no hassles under waranty coverage. Guess it depends on what type of warranty outfit you're with
