manual shift knob

Does anyone know how to remove the shifter knob?Seems to be welded or
just tight.Thanks

yeh i noticed too that the thing is very tight on there. pain in the ass cus i wanna take the boot off to clean and you cant. i am going to the dealership tommorow so i will ask a tech if they know or could find out for me.

i spoke to a tech and he said that because of the way the stick is (the lil ring u have to pull up to go in reverse) it may not be possible to take it off. he did suggest goin to a local automotive store and askin them if they may anything there that you may be able to replace it with. he was very vague in details and i was in hurry as i had to go to work but thats what i was told.

Manual knob isn't screwed on or threaded...it's actually cast in place. The knob is installed hot then cooled to be permanent.

Only way to really remove it is to remove the shifter from the car, boil a pot of water, then hold the shift knob in it for 10-20 minutes. This will soften the plastic enough to be able toget it off.

Next issue would be finding a suitable replacement knob, since I can't find any, other than the Isotta Billet one you get from Italy.

So if you find a replacement let me knw.
