So, after dinking around with my minor electrical problim (yet to be fixed) I now have a shocking car, Literaly. Every time after I get done driving it, and pull the handle to get out, open the door get out and grab it to shut it *ZAP* I get a huge F-ing shock from the door. I dont know why, but I'm thinking it has somethign to to with the electric some how shorting out or somethign? is this possible? I havnt notcied anythign else wrong with the lights or anything, and from what I can tell its not hurting anything, just annoying the piss outa me.. and its only on my side.. when ever my girlfriend is in the passanger saet, and get out then closes the door, it never gets her... so what up with that? any ideas?

I've had this on a couple of my cars. It's just static discharge. I don't know if it is normal though, but a friend of mine has complained of the same problem on his cavalier.

That happens with most cars... some days Ill get out of my car and close the door and I wont get a zap or anything.... other times I get out of my car and I get zapped big time..... It got to the point where I was thinking about getting those static strap things that drag on the road... now I close it by the window... I stay away from metal :)

just try grabbing the car from the handles to close it.. the handles are plastic on the newer versions. Also maybe you are wearing somthing that might creat the static.. stupid stuff like that somtimes.

Luck to you :smokin:

Some people do things like attach rubber strips to the underside of the car, that drag on the ground...it grounds the car and that allows the static to discharge into the ground, instead of you...

LOL!
i get that same fucking problem every fucking time i get out of my car,
but its not just me,
its my passengers too,
unless i take the full front of the shock,
i figured out what it was though,
since i have a huge 1000watt system in my car,
i decided to use a 1.5 farad cap,
and yeh,
its grounded to the car,
so as the cap is using up power,
and the battery sends more to keep it charged,
the fuckin ground wire,
charges the fuckin car,
i get out,
and ZAP!
i got used to it,
i actually like it now,
when its late and i am sleepy,
i roll down the window,
like usually,
to get cold air in,
then i usually touch the door,
and ZAP!
i'm fucken awake

Welcome to winter time static discharge...don't worry too much, it will stop shocking you in the spring :grinyes:

On a side note, the more profanity you use, the less intellegent you appear.
Lets keep the forum clean.

The reason I get shocked I believe is because when I drive the heel of my foot slide along the carpet floor mat back and forth as I push the clutch in. Then that builds up and I get shocked as i get out. I always close the door from the top of it, never the handle. That would be too much trouble. I only have like a 200 watt amp running to my 6x9's on the rear deck so I know that isnt the problem.
