first race

hey, just wanted to share my first race with some people.
At Midnight:
I was driving on the highway back home when I unknowingly provoke a race by slowly passing a car. It was a late 1980's Mustang I believe, not sure which model it was but it wasn't very fast... It had all the exterior done: body kit, neons, fancy tail lights, exhaust tip. When I realized he was speeding up to stop me from passing, I glanced over and he was laughing towards me with his friend. So I pushed my 95 Bonneville SE to the max and pulled way past him. He then gets on my tail and follows for quite sometime for some reason. Then he pulls up beside me and paces me, he glances over and nods. So we both take off at the same time and I pull past him again. This happens one more time until he takes his exit off.
I was slightly confused as to why I was the one ahead of him.. It must've been the lowest model Mustang with no engine mods, because my Bonneville is stock. Anyways, he wasn't too happy with me afterwards.
Well, that was my fun for an evening. Just felt like sharing because it was an exciting time.
Bye

Yea, the only reason I proceeded to accelerate when he wouldn't let me pass was because the highway was empty. I'd never race on busy streets. Thanks for the welcome ;)

yep, what he said
Well, your bonnavill should beat some 5.0's, not a good condition one, but some, and the 2.4L I4's you defentally would smoke

Ahh, what about Mustang GT? How much hp/torque do they put out?
A Cobra I won't even mess with ;)
Not like it would be embarrassing to lose. No one expects a big car like mine to even have a chance anyways.

An 80's gt makes 200hp and 300torque if i'm not mistaken.
I get the same thing with my car...but for some reason, I get funny looks when I smoke em :bandit:

Ahh, nice.
I like Thunderbirds, I think i'm going to buy one for my next car. Are they Mid-Engine RWD? And would a 1995 Thunderbird SC be a good car to modify? I just love their look.

mid engine RWD?
haha nope, Front engined and RWD
the 95's have a 4.6L V8. With a Procharger they move right along pretty good.
TV's is all go, and no show. haha she aint the most prettiest thing but it moves right along for her age and weight. GO BIRD GO! YA HOOCH!

The SC's are bitchen, they pull 14's stock, and can be moded to get some more power outa them.
If you wanna spend time and $ the 4.6 will get you more though.
Only 1 major problem, weight, other than that they kick ass.
So yes... GO BIRD GO! :D

A 95 SC has a V6... but it's a blown V6, and it's really easy to replace the V6s with turbos and have a very powerful motor... Or you just get a bigger blower for it, either way, it's good.
I would stick with the 944 and put a 951 or 968 engine in... A 300hp 951 engine isn't hard to build.

Well, i'm used to the weight with the Bonneville. The Thunderbird isn't as wide as a Bonneville is it?
14 seconds stock sounds pretty nice to me ;)

The 79-84 mustang had 200hp, the 85-94 had about 220 and the H.O. package was rated at 230, however, I know a guy who had his 89 H.O. dynoed and stock it put out 250hp, they normally run between 15.00 and 15.75 on the 1/4 mile when they are stock.

Hey! Another fellow Bonneville driver....there are few of us out there :o)
Don't under estimate the Bonnie.......it's a nice sleeper...you should know that if you own one......unless yours has only got the base motor putting out 170hp....then maybe not.....

Good to hear man........then you should definitely be smoking alot of cars......I haven't lost a race yet.......been up against riced out civics, acuras, a Z24(90, 3.1 V6), intrepid, and some others....i love the look on peoples faces when they get their ass kicked by a family sedan/boat! But it still is a good lookin' car.
