Crate Motor

I own a 1965 Chevy II Nova Coupe with a transplanted Chevy 383 Stroker crate motor. Anyone out there have a Stroker motor in their Nova and how do you like it?

I have a 71 nova with a 350 and a 4 speed right now. However, I am building a 383 stroker with AFR heads, a comp cams xe 274 cam with a 750 carb (havn't decided on brand yet). I was going to just do a 350, but the torque the 383 produces at a lower rpm is just amazing. I anticipate I'm going to love it once it gets in the car, but I'm worried about the stock 8.5" 10bolt in the rear lol. How do you like your transplanted 383?

What's up CRushER! I LOVE my 383 Stroker!! It was built brand new by Speed-O-Motive in California. It has a 750 cfm Demon, Dart Iron Eagle heads, new GM 350 block, Comp Cams bumpstick with .540/.558, Hooker Super Comp headers, Professional Products Hurricane intake, JE pistons with 11:1 compression. They did a fantastic job on assembly. It dynoed 520hp/493tq @ the crank!!! You're right, they make awesome low-end torque! I hear ya, I'd say swap your rear end abd save yourself the grief later.

Yeah your probably right. Mine is going to make around 450-500hp and torque at the crank. I may upgrade the cam later but I want good streetability. The specs on mine are 230/236 @50 with .490 i/e lift. Eagle cast stroker crank, Scat I Beam rods, and Probe forged pistons. I plan on hitting it with 125 hp nitrous for fun lol !!.

The small block is always a good choice. I had one with a 396 and it put too much weight in the wrong place.
