looks awsome, deffinently need to get one, thinking of painting it Cobalt Blue, I notice that the kit must be euro spec. since the North American Version does'nt have a rear wiper, buts thats an easy fix, and i'm sure the U.S. is'nt Fujimi's bread and butter

About bloody time! After my recent 964, I'm looking forward to more cool curbside Porsches. :p

Cobalt blue would look great on this one. Yet another reason to lament CobraColor's demise....:disappoin

Strange bend there in the drive shafts. Part A9, step 2. I think that shaft is supposed to be straight and the CV joint is supposed to bend....

that'll be a worthy addition to the Tamiya 911 carrera and Tamiya Boxster and Tamiya Carrera GT

You can have a rear view wiper on the Cayman in the U.S. It's one of many options you can add.

The Boxster (and Cayman)'s CV joints are bend forward a bit. The illustration might be exaggerated to show it more clearly. You can see the actual part here.
http://www14.plala.or.jp/kimunozo-ver-r/polcaysimp.html

What I don't know is Part A12 in step 1.

Anyway, the overall quality of the kit seems excellent. Thin wheel spokes are definitely plus, as I still remember their dreadful LM-GT4 wheels. I hope Fujimi release a whole bunch of variations with different wheels and optional packages. (and also the 2nd gen Boxster to go with its coupe counterpart)

Yeah man. Looks to be halfshafts for AWD. Which the Boxster/Cayman doesn't have b/c of the engine layout. Hmm..

@#$% red plastic. Hopefully in one of Fujimi's signature many iterations, it will come in white or grey.

It was originally Dec.26, but now, the most up-to-date release date I know is Jan 26th, the same date for 512BBi.
FYI, 512TR reissue: Jan 12 and 356GT4/BB: Feb 26.

Love the wheels Matt! What size are the Aoshima rims in scale,17,18,19 inch? They look bigger than the kit wheels? The black centres look awesome. If I build this kit I was looking to change the standard wheels as I don't like them too much. What colour are you painting the body? I'm assuming thats white primer it is in at the minute?

The wheels are 19 inch, they are very similar in size to the stock rims. The body is in pearl white, not cleared yet.

Frustrating to wait for Hobbylink to ship...we preordered the Caymans when announced, they came out on the 29th, HLJ was on holiday until the 4th, order (with a couple 512 BB's :naughty: ) still not shipped, still in "payment processing"....:banghead:

Love HLJ but hate their internal slag time, shouldn't take them a week to get an order of in-stock items out the door :nono:

I ordered a FXX from HobbySearch on 012.30.2006. STILL in "ready to preparing" status as of 01.23.2007! 3 weeks is kinda getting ridiculous for a simply stick it in a box and ship it timeframe...oh well..

Or plain bleach, that works in a matter of minutes. Just has the inconvenient of not removing the clear coat under the chrome...

Is it just me or the Cayman is not the most beautiful Porsche on the streets..?

Not really, just the front spoiler not sitting as snugly with the body as I'd like. Just a minor gap, and that may be because I CF'ed it.

Niiice !!! mine is soon finished too.
Red interior and metallic gray body, black mirrors. Something i've noticed, i'haven't painted my front plate silver but black and the decal is very transclucent .it turned dark silver. Anyways it avoids to be too visible on the dark grey.
So paint your ID plates in silver !
