doesnt realy matter. depends on how fast your driving your civic. if your driving 75 in a 35 well thats not legal..
c ops arent mechanics. porche's are on the road there a hell of alkot faster then some turbod civics. basicly

There was that hatchback from Hawaii a couple of years ago that ran low-to-mid tens on the track and was legal and registered and drove to the track on it's own power.

There is a guy here in Charleston,SC who own an Acura Integra(i know its not a civic). But he bought it off the dealer lot and took it straight over to the Show Zone(our local import performance shop) and dropped $20,000 into engine modification!

Now his integra runs just over 500 horsepower to the wheels when he is not on the bottle.

I've seen him smoke vettes with that car.

What about the guy wo put $20,000 into an integra... What all did he do??? Since you said no Turbo, Im curious... And you know what he was running the 1/4 mile in?

He said no bottle, as in no nitrous. I don't think he was making over 500whp without a turbo, highly unlikely.
A friend of mine, who owns an import shop around where I live called Nu Image, has a turbo si that runs mid tens...Not daily driven, but street legal nonetheless.

Actually it's supercharged. He has blown up 2 other honda's with turbos. So now he wanted something more stable.

I don't know what his quarter mile time is. But I have yet to see him lose. Most people give up when they see everything he has got.

I didnt think the stock tranny on a Civic could handle to much more power then stock.

I've heard differently, that they were very strong, good for something like 400hp+. Or maybe that was just the clutch...Or maybe I just heard wrong all together, hehe.

Well I dont know if Honda Tranny can handle that much power... I heard from one person that for sure they can handle about 250... Thats with a stock motor... The motor was a d16y7 (Stock 96 DX). With stock motor and tranny everything went fine, except for we did put a new clutch in it. But yea hopefully that might answer your question...

And for other Street Racers or whatever, most people usually do an engine swap so then it would have a better tranny...

there are people putting that much power to the trannies, and they hold up, it's all how you drive it. big slicks, strong clutch, and a lot of torque, then you will kill 'em. Racing is hard on trannies, but they can hold they power. In a honda you don't have a whole lot of options.

As for the guy running 500hp from a supercharger, that is a tough one to swallow, I don't even know if $20k would cover it, it would have to be a totally custom fab job, I don't even think the charger in the vortech kit has enough cfm to get 500hp.

Well, maybe he had something custom made to have like a Turbo Supercharger Thing or whatever... or maybe even Forced Induction... Not may civics get 500hp without $$$$$$$$$ put into them...

He may have also swapped in a H22A motor or a B18C1 or B18C5??? Who knows but those would be easier ways to get that much hp!

or maybe he had like 3 b18 welded together to make a 5.4l 12 cylinder, and then he had quad turbos and was running straight nitro-methane, and for an extra kick, he could turn on his warp thrusters and hit warp speed?

lmao, who knows? but I wonder if that 12 cyl thing would work... hey everybody! I got myself a new project! ROFL, the engine would be hanging out the sides of the car and the drivers seat would have to turn n2 the back seat to fit all the shit it would have. lol, now I guarentee you nobody's done THAT.

By the way, I've heard of a Civic around here somewhere that does 9s. It's completely decked out and the guy refuses to take it anywhere because he put close to his life savings and probably his kids college funds into it. It's kind of like a myth down in these har hillz'... I've actually seen it once tho. It's like a 96' hatch with that purple-green reflective paint. Looks nice 'nuff but I've never seen the engine.
