Question re: 1982 R5

I am purchasing a U.S. model non-turbo R5 (aka "LeCar"). It already has a Weber 32/36 DGV carb, Spax dampers and a 2-inch exhaust. I'm wondering if there are any other reasonable performance options for this engine, or how difficult it would be to convert the 1397cc engine into turbo trim. Is it a fairly straightforward swap, is the carbed 1397cc engine in here now essentially the same as the turbo engine minus the snail, or...? Thanks for any knowledge you may have.
