I am planning on upgrading the big 3. What I would like to know is what gauge to go with, and also how complicated is it to change the wires. Also any one have instructions on changing the wires? I have a 98 chevy malibu. I am running a Profile ap1200 1200 watt max amp (200 rms x 2 at 4 ohms), and two infinity perfect 10.1's (75-350 watt rms a peice at 4 ohms). Thanks

By wires i meant the 3 wires (negative, positive, and the alternator wire). Am I right? Or is the big three something else?

ok the only one you replace is your alternator one because most alterntors have only 1 output. but the rest you just unscrew the terminal/ take the connecter peaice off. and add the already crimped 2 guage wire to the negative battery. and then repeat it with the block to ground but don't worry about taking a battery terminal off, it's just a bolt. but be Very carefull to not strip the threads in aluminam (sp) blocks

just buy 0 guage wire, and ADD it to your existing wiring. Batt(+) to alt, batt(-) to chasis, batt(-) to engine block (could be routed through hood fuse box)

how do you get 0 guage wire to fit where it is made for a 4 guage?

I made 2 gauge fit in one of those battery terminals from walmart with the 8-gauge holes, you just have to handle it like a woman slow and gentle with a little twisting motion.
YOu just use 0 gauge ring terminals, i wouldnt go smaller than 2.
Also you can use an exterior fuse to do the alt-battery pos wire.
Here this should help you out a lot
