what is the purpose of putting on a larger exhaust tip? does it give the exhaust a more deep tone, is the "Cherry Bomb" brand any good?:screwy:

Exhaust tips are just for looking good. They are too small and too far down the line to make any real difference in power or sound. Cherry bombs are cheap. They don't flow very well, but they have a raspy loud sound that some people like. As a performance choice I wouldn't use them, but I do have a set on a low-power 305. I describe their sound as "white trash." :)

a cherry bomb is just a glass pack. If you place them at a certain point in the exhaust it give a vehicle a sort of cackle. i put them on my truck b/c there cheap and my old muffler fell apart but i have to admit it is commonly associated with white trash but i dont really car i drive an old truck with a full tube pushbumper on my truck with bi cb antennas and mud tires lol. It doesnt get more white trash than that.

in my experience, exhaust tips can change the sound, a lot actually, if you buy one that's resonated. youre right, cherry bombs are garbage. my first car was a purple ford escort, and i did a lot of stupid stuff withthat car. one of them was chopping off the muffler. i hated the sound of it, and i didnt want a fart can, so i bought a roughly four inch long exhaust tip (the kind with all the bubblyish stuff on the inside). sounded manly as hell!
