Hello everyone. My 92 Geo Metro has a ECU with the number E1 on it. I cannot find any on eBay or anywhere that have the same numbers as that one. How can I tell if I could use any of the other ECUs on my car, such as E7? I know the E7 is also for 92-93 Geos with manual transmissions. If any of you know, please help! Thanks!

1st off, is your car a 92 Metro with a 5 Speed Manual Trans in it? If so, I Have a E3 ECM At the house for it. The important factor in looking for a replacement ECM Is that you match the numbers on the ECM, Such as the ones in this pic that say 33920 60B7. Post back all these numbers on your ECM and I might be able to help you out here?

The ECM modules are not interchangable specially if you live in california!
The modules are different based on three factors
1.) Model Type = base model, LSI, Convertible & XFI.
2.) Transmittion = automatic or manual transmittion.
3.) Smog requirements = California or Federal smog.
I will provide a link to a ECM manufacture that list the different module types. You may be able to use a Federal ECM module for a California car if that car is not in the state of california! but if you are in california forget passing Smog tests!
