when u turn the key there is no noise at all I.E no clicking or turning over of the engine .
now ive been thinking about wat the prob could b and have coem to the conclusion its either the starter motor or as its an automatic could it b that there is some sort of sensor on the gear box that would poss make the car think its not in park as i have come acrossthis with many british automatics b4 any ideas guys and girls would b much appreciated

If it's a '97, replace the ignition switch. Common problem on '97's in the USA.

I would buy a rebuilt starter and not a new one and save yourself the money.

rite guys i know its been a while but found the main prob was their battery was dead as dead so have one coming..............as soon as it arrives hopefully it will work ..if not were do i locate the starter motor as i had a quick look when i was takin the battery off and couldnt c it ...........so im guessing that its located on the under side of the engine ?????cheers

I'd check the park switch on the tranny before digging into the starter. Try to start it with the tranny in neutral.

well just to let u guys know after some serious head scratching :banghead: finally got the blazer started.battery as i said b4 was deader than dead so replaced that but it wouldnt start .........she was turning over but not firing so we checked the plugs etc and finally had to really clean up the distributer up as all the pegs were severly corroded and after all the cleaning she started at first turn yippppppeeeeeeeee.

so know my freind has to replace plugs leads and distrbuter and arm but my 1 question now is and it may sound dumb but how the hell do u get to all the plugs:screwy: . we managed to get three out but couldnt get all of them esppecially the ones on the side of the engine that has the steering colum running next to it ..................is there some sort of trick to do or special tool to use ..............plz plz help as im trying help my freind out from having to spend a fortune to get them changed..................also wat is ussually done on a 100 thou mile service .

I assume you are going through the wheel well? If not, jack the truck, remove the front tires and lift the flap. That will give you a better view. The best way I've found to remove the one next to the steering shaft is to use a "warble" extension to get it good and loose, then you have to use fingers.

Since you're in the UK, does it have the steering wheel on the left side or right side as you sit in the driver's seat?

"Since you're in the UK, does it have the steering wheel on the left side or right side as you sit in the driver's seat?"

Ya-know, that never even crossed my mind. It's been a few years but I've even driven in the UK on the right side. I wonder how different the clearance is with the steering shaft on the right side.
