I noticed that the coolent is leaking from the under part of the motor. I drips from the oil filter on to the ground. Any ideals where it coming from, also is this a back yard fix or am I going to the shop? Thanks in advance head splitting Jimmy:banghead:

we need more information, like what car you have, year, engine, is it a big leak or just a drip.
and depending on how mechanicly inclined you are determins if its a job for a shop or a DIY.
just a heads up, it sounds like a failed water pump bearing, it is not a hard fix just takes time and knowing your way around a L67 (if that is what you have), and you can save yourself a bunch of $$$ in labor. i did mine a few month back and it was easy, of course this is assuming you have a 96-99 Riviera.

sorry about that, I have a 95 Rivi with a 3.6. The leak is consistant drip. One full cantainer of coolent takes about a day to drain from the motor while running.I've done motor work befor on other cars so I can say I know my way around, thanks for the help AF Enthusiast.

i think you mean 3.8. is your's supercharged? is the harmonic balancer wet with coolant? belts sticky? you need to first find where the leak is from, and like i said, its most likely the water pump. how many miles on your car? have you checked the oil for coolant? lot of questions, i know, :)
try cleaning the engine the best you can and try to find out where the leak is from. is it wet inside the car on the passenger side carpet? all hoses look and feel ok? including the one for the heater core? just throwing a few ideas out there, let me know if you have any Q's. oh and one more Q, does it leak more with the heat on?

I finally found the leak and yes it was the water pump, it is not a easy job becasue you have to support the motor and undo one of the braces so I left it to the pros who do this for a living, if anybody is wondering how much it cost....try 400 smacks. again thanks

glad you got it fixed. its not that hard to remove the mount.(i've removed my engine mount for various reasons, including the WP, about 6 times :( ) 400 is alot when the pump itself is only $35 at napa. but im sure your glad there is no more worry about overheating or puddling in the garage.
