I'm using the Scale Motorsport Phototech set for the 206 Peugeot and I was wondering if the "rear disc brake shields" go on the back of the brakes?
Thanks!

The "rear disk brake shields" in the Scale Motorsport set replace part of the rear gravel disks (C8 and C9), the part called out in the instructions in the Rear Suspension section painted X-18.
In reality these parts are made from thin sheet steel, usually water or lazer-cut with many small holes to let air, but not gravel, pass through, and mount on the suspension upright between it and the rear face of the brake disk.
If you are modelling a tarmac-spec car it is possible that they were not fitted, but it really depends on which event is represented.
Known in the rally world as "sh*t shields"...

The parts you are asking about fit between the rear brake disks and the rear suspension uprights and are a shield to stop gravel from being thrown up and damaging the rear brakes, callipers and wheels, commonly known in WRC circles as “sh*t-shields”.
In the Tamiya Peugeot the parts C8 and C9 have a vague representation of them and are the lip on the back of the brakes called out on the instruction section “Rear Suspension” to be painted X-18. To fit the SMS parts you will need to remove the plastic “lip” around the edge of the disk for them to show properly.
If you are building a version of the car from a gravel rally then they were definitely fitted, but not necessarily so on a tarmac event, due to lack of road debris and, of course, reduced weight.

Thanks! You seem to know your rally cars.

D'Oh! Double/similar post, damn you Internet Explorer!
Yup I've worked with WRC cars for nearly ten years.
Any project pictures of that Peugeot?

I'll post some tonight. This is the car that I am building:

I'm struggling a bit with the photoetch stuff. Its the first time I've worked with it. I also have to get the 2002 Tamiya "winners" kit to bet the proper gravel wheels for the car. Finally, I'm ordering the studio 27 harness set for the seats. JB
